ABOUT PHOEFI

My skin has never been easy. From cradle cap as a baby to eczema through childhood and my mid-teens, it was often dry, red and quick to react. I grew out of the worst of it, but perimenopause, menopause and an autoimmune condition brought those difficulties back.

I grew up in a small country town, and an old chemist there made me a cream. My mother asked him for the formula and kept it. Decades later, after trying face cream after face cream without finding anything that worked for my skin, I was getting frustrated and desperate. Mum reminded me that she still had the recipe and suggested I have the cream remade. So, I set out to have it copied. Easier said than done!

Formulation had moved on in those forty years — better emulsifiers, better humectants, gentler preservative systems. What I found instead was an Australian manufacturer working from a similar base formula, brought up to date. I kept the thinking behind the original and took the improvements.

Put simply, PHOEFI is the skincare I use for my own reactive, dehydrated and ageing skin. Paraben-free, sulphate-free, artificial colour-free and fragrance free where possible. Unisex, because males and females all have skin. Made in Australia, in easy to dispense containers I want to leave out on the bathroom shelf.
